ARTIST STATEMENT Whether
the subject is a tree or someone’s face or hands, my art is typically
about capturing something beautiful in the way of its
colors - at least that’s what I strive for.
Color is what brings a work to life more
than any other single variable in terms of how powerful a painting can
ultimately be. For me, even brightness and contrast values are
subordinate, and serve mostly as a catalyst or catapult for the
potential impact that color can have in a painting. Color can make an average
composition look good, a good composition look excellent, and an
excellent composition look completely breathtaking. One has to apply the
right color, in the right amount, in the
right place, and in the right way.
ARTIST BIO Rob is a Vancouver artist, mostly self taught, and took up the

THE RAW ANATOMY OF
BEAUTY A painting, music, the human figure, or even a piece of
engineering can be described as beautiful. And as diverse as some of
these categories may be, the raw anatomy or structure in terms of what
makes them beautiful is the same.
For example, someone with a beautiful appearance will have facial
features in which all the components ranging from the shape and multi-equi-distant
relationships between the eyes, along with simple fraction equi-distant
relationship of the nose parts in relationship to the eyes, etc, etc,
etc, are in some highly sophisticated, innate, breathtaking, and
exceptional level of three dimensional geometric harmony, balance, and
order.
If we're talking about a "piece of truly beautiful engineering" in
reference to some machinery, we would be referring to all the mechanical
components with their various functions, shapes, and design such that
there is a mathematical, geometric, and functional genius in which all
the parts and variables are so mutually arranged as to be wonderful and
breathtaking.
